My Weblog of Thought
About the Author

Well, let’s see…this one is about me. I’m a senior undergraduate student at Marshall University majoring in Communication Disorders. This has been a long haul and I’m excited to be finished. Next year, however, it’s off to graduate school. I’m fairly positive that I will continue my education here at Marshall. I believe that Marshall has a really strong graduate program.

I’m really looking forward to being totally finished with school and being a clinician. I know that I still have so much to learn. I think that it will be difficult getting there but I am hoping to have fun doing it.

Acknowledgements

Wow! This has been a busy class and semester! I would like to thank my group members for giving me ideas as to how I should refine my genres and for truthfully telling me what they thought. I would also like to acknowledge my classmates. They went through this wonderful class with me. We’ve all worked hard! I would also like to thank LJ Fauber for helping me find some interesting sources. Last but not least, I would like to thank Mrs. McComas for putting up with me and teaching me things about the computer that I didn’t even know existed! : ) I know that later down the road I will think about how fun and informative this class was.

Preface

Doing research on dysphagia has definitely proved to be interesting. I have learned so much more about dysphagia that I wasn’t aware of before. I began to get interested in dysphagia when I took a neurogenic disorders class. I have always heard that speech therapists work with clients suffering from swallowing disorders but I had never learned much about it until then. I chose to do research on dysphagia in order to take advantage of learning more. I believe that I would like to get the chance to work with clients who have dysphagia in the future.

I chose to center my research and my genres on how others should help clients with dysphagia. I think that it is important that the caregivers be aware of what is going on and how to help the clients with their dietary modifications.
